Do I Want An HOA?

As your local Camarillo Realtor and Real Estate Team we know all the pros and cons when it comes to dealing with a Homeowners Association otherwise known as an HOA. Many communities in our area are in support of an HOA and you will have to search even harder in an already “slim pickings” market for find a community without an HOA – not to say that they do not exist! Whether or not to live within the confines of an HOA is a personal family decision and many people have their reasons for wanting one or not. We have compiled a list of great reasons to consider purchasing within a community that does have an HOA if you are concerned it may not be a fit for your family.
Helps maintain property values: An HOA works hard to maintain a set of standards for the neighborhood that ensures property values are maintained. These things include having everyone keep their front yard looking nice and tidy, not painting anyone’s home an obscure color, etc.
Rules help deter nuisance activity: Homeowners Associations likely have their own set of standards when it comes to nuisance and noise regulations. These rules help to ensure everyone in the neighborhood is happy.
Well maintained common areas: Neighborhood streets, fences, trails, and community centers are all perks to being part of an HOA. The cost of being a member allows these areas to be well-maintained all year long.
Access to amenities: Most HOA communities have access to a club house and a community pool. If you do not have a private pool in your yard or do not want the responsibility of a private pool a community pool is a wonderful benefit to have.
